Can some one help me understand why one of h has one year & the other has a different year

In 1855, volunteer Montauk Hose Company 4 was organized on DeGraw St.
In 1857, volunteer Montauk Hose Company 4 became volunteer Montauk Engine Company 22.
In 1869, volunteer Montauk Engine Company 22 was disbanded. In their station, Brooklyn Fire Department organized Engine 4.
Only the firehouse goes back to 1855.
