L-59 moved to E-43's quarters (1901 Sedgwick Ave.) on April 17, 1978 and E-85 was disbanded to re-organize L-53 on May 20, 1986. ;)

A LITTLE MORE HISTORY:

Manhattan's Engine 85 became Marine 3 on 7-1-1959 when all the fireboats were renamed "Marine Companies."

Engine 85 was organized at Engine 82's qtrs on 7-1-67 as a separate company.
Moved to the Tin House on Boston Rd. on 7-8-71
Closed & members transfered to Tower Ladder 53 on May 20, 1986.

Ladder 59:
Was created on 11-15-69 as a partitive fire company, TAC Ladder 712, working from 1500 x 0100 from the quarters Ladder 31. The rig was parked during non-duty hours at Engine 43 where the members had their lockers.
Ladder 712 moved to the Tin House as 712 on 7-8-71. Mayor John Lindsey dedicated the house. The unit became
Lad 59 on Nov. 24, 1972. Moved to Eng 43 qtrs on Apr. 17, 1978.

Now, Ladder 59 was not the first truck company to be stationed in Engine 43's qtrs. Who was???

What company was closed to form Ladder 59?

Ladder 59 replaced two companies, Tactical Control Unit 712 in the Bronx and Squad 6 in Manhattan.

Your answers are correct about Ladder 36, TAC 712, & Squad 6.  But in who's quarters was Squad # 6?

Did you also know that Engine 43 had a hose wagon?

I believe Squad 6's quarters are now home to Engine 74, and prior to that the quarters belonged to Engine 56.

You are correct on your FDNY Histoy. There are not too many who would know that.  FDNY Amb 1 was there for awhile too if I am correct.
