FDNY’s first Latina fire lieutenant inspired by her new job and her old colleagues

She is in the FLSTP right now which lasts about 5 or 6 weeks after competition she will get assigned to a battalion.
 
I don't understand this article. Good for her and congratulations but I believe there have been Latino fire officers for quite a long time in FDNY. The ones I met were very good and highly respected. But maybe I am wrong.

I believe they are referring to her as the 1st Hispanic female (Latina) Lt.

Yes, that makes sense Mike. Again, good for her and a salute to all Latino Fire Officers who have served NYC well.
