FDNYs 16th Division was established on April 19, 1965 and was headquartered at Engine Co 274 in Flushing Queens.
Battalions 52, 53, and 54 made up the 16th Division.

On October 4, 1975 the 16th Division was CLOSED.

BIG MISTAKE !

Today Queens is busy.
The month of July, 2025 Queens had half of the Greater Alarms for the entire city.

Queens is big from Vernon Blvd to Hook Creek Blvd and everything in between is Burning.

That may be true with the amount of fire duty in Queens, but for the most part the fires are mostly in 2 story buildings and garages from what I see. The other boros, other than Staten Island, have much taller buildings and more people per building and present a different challenge with extension within the building. I'm not downplaying the amount of fire duty just my perspective of being a FF for almost 31 years.

And if you "old timers" recall, Paul R. was the 16 Div. Commander.
