I agree with you, Chief, especially regarding the hype. In my opinion, a firehouse is located within a community to provide a base of operations for service to that community.
A firehouse is used to house the members of the company or companies that operate out of it, so it should comfortably accommodate the members, with enough room for training, eating, relaxing, studying, sleeping, etc. It should have enough room for the appratus and all the equipment associated with the rig/rigs and should not be cramped.
The members should have input on the layout and the functionality of the quarters.
The "green" aspect (not to be confused with efficiently), along with the artwork, is a waste of resources. Good luck to Rescue 2 on the new house and to future companies when their time for new quarters comes.
