FDANY APPARATUS EXHAUST WHISTLE FOR RESPONDING

FDNY rigs responded with exhaust whistles, during and following, World War II to prevent public fear that air raid sirens were being sounded.

The Exhaust Whistle aka Buckeye was used on FDNY Rigs basically until Air Brakes became standard on FDNY Rigs then the Buckeye was replaced with the Air Horn.
