There are many very good and reliable companies that sell FDNY Books.
I have ordered many from several of them myself, and the service is Excellent.

But I would like to mention where many FDNY Books might also be purchased.
They also support the FDNY Foundation, which allows the FDNY to better train and support it's members.

The prices are generally reasonable too.

There is also a section dedicated to Magazines, Podcast, etc

You can check out those books and prices on:

Purchased Al Donchin's book brand new when it first came out. Some amazing pictures!!
If you ever visit a photography exhibit at an art museum, you will note that the majority are black and white. There's a lesson there. B/W pictures allow/permit/ force you to look at the details and contrasts. B/W is made for nighttime fire operations, and make the use of a flash more effective (and dramatic).

Captions are essential. Donchin knew that detailed captions made the photographs more irresistible to his intended audience- us!

There are several fire fighting related books published by www.arcadiapublishing.com. Two FDNY books are New York City firefighting 1901-2001 by Steven Scher and Historic Fires of NYC by Corbett/Cannon. These are in the Images of America series.

Of course we now need to add the latest FDNY BOOK to this topic.
"THEY SAVED NEW YORK", by Dan Potter aka "johnnygage" and Glenn Usdin

Writer/Author Retired FDNY member, Dan Potter puts it all together with his interviews of 90 members of the FDNYs War Years as they tell their own stories

Photographer Glenn Usdin provides his current and past photos of each one of these 90 members of the FDNY War Years.
From their early younger days to their now well reserved retired FDNY days
Together Dan and Glenn make this a must have collectors book

For more information go to:
www.TheySavedNewYork.com

We also have another Excellent Book which is still available by another member of this web site, "mikeindabronx"

That book is titled "Into the Smoke", which also has many photos and stories from those FDNY War Years.
The photos were taken by Mike Dick "mikeindabronx", with stories told by Retired FDNY Lt Tom Barry, covering a period of the busiest 40 years in the history of the of the FDNY

That book can be purchased through either - Fire Engineering Books or Amazon for $79.00 plus shipping

Mike also produced a book titled; "FDNYs Bravest - Their Lives on The Line", but I don't think that collectors book is available anymore.
