I had the 1966 correct!  ;) ;)

those are 1965/66 ford galaxies

They ARE '66's, Kevin.  The '66 had a horizontal split in the grille (as your Chief's cars do), the '65 did not. Big difference, wasn't it?

I also remember both '53 and '57 Fords.  Like you, I wish we could find some pictures.

raybrag,

Found this picture,  looks like an early 50's Ford on right side.

You may be right, Kevin . . . but it's tough to say for sure. I tried blowing it up, but lost all definition. Thanks for trying. :D ;D ;)

I'll take a wild guess at a '57 Ford and it looks like E42 street & Vanderbilt Ave. right by Grand Central station.

You're right on the '57 Ford.  Also notice the Ward LaFrance C.D. pumper at the right. If this is near Grand Central Station in 1964, then I believe the '54 Mack might be E26 since E65 didn't get one until late 1965. Engines: 1, 2, 16, 23, & 54 were all running with '62-'63 Macks like the one in the foreground. E8 was still running with a '58 Mack which had a smaller hosebed than the '62-'63's.

1968 Plymouth  Probably Batallion 1

Regarding the photo of E42 & Vanderbilt, the CF Mack in the lower right that is hooked up to the hydrant is E16. I remembered my dad saving that photo from the Daily News.

This is a 1968 Plymouth, the reason why it's not a '67 is the little side marker lights on the front and rear fenders that were on the 1968 models from all the car manufacturers.
