Does anybody on here watch the re-runs of "The King Of Queens" ? .........in the opening scene of some of them (more than one opening scene depending on the year) there is a portion that shows an old "Redbird" train running on the elevated portion of the "7" line followed by a shot of Broadway in Elmhurst looking towards the LIRR overpass at Whitney Ave....briefly you see an early ('80s maybe) Suburban w'untinted windows & the 2 individual yellow rear facing lights on the roof.....i am not positive what year the opening scene was filmed in but this MAY be the 46*BN rig if it was filmed very early in the series as there were not any spares/messenger vehicles on the scene for many years after these Suburbans  were introduced......checking the guide on time warner cable shows that some shows including this in the opening were filmed in '06 but i think since the "Redbird" train is visible then the opening was filmed much earlier.... also when the Queens Center Mall is shown it has the original facade........anyone who watches the show regularly will have seen the episode where Richie the Fireman is in the shower supposedly in a Firehouse.... the next scene is the front of ENG*287..LAD*136 & BN*46 s qtrs........also several years ago there was a shortlived comedy on TV called originally "2 Guys,A Girl & a Pizza Place".....the opening scene of this show was of the front of 287/136/46 qtrs also..... taken coming down Seabury St toward Grand Av.

Chief, yes I always watched the "King of Queens" show. I also have the First Four Seasons on DVD. It was one of mine, and my wifes favorites. In fact she used to say to me that I reminded her of him, Kevin James. I guess thats because of his physical profile. I think the guys on here may agree with that.

I will look closer at the DVDs to see the quarters of Eng 287, Lad 136, and Bn 46. I don't know how that ever got past me.

All DIVs have these white vans  to transport members & equipt. which were donated to the FD after 9-11....since they all have a Light Duty staff they also have other vehicles besides the van....mostly older Suburbans & possibly the newer small sedan pictured above though not in the 14th DIV.

68jk09................most of the filming for the The King of Queens show was done from Queens Blvd & Eliot Ave up to the Queens Courthouses. The scene where they show you the house is on Wetherole St bet 63 Ave & Eliot Ave. One of the opening shots shows the sign 63 Dr and 63 Rd. This was taken on the main road of Queens Blvd leading to the service road bet 62 Dr & 63 Dr.  Also in that shot you see the computer store ( yellow Canvas front ) which is no longer there.  When the scenes are shown that they are driving the car on Queens Blvd, look carefully and you see the quarters of E 305 & L 151 at 75 Ave & Queens Blvd in Forest Hills. If you no the area well its not hard to pick it out. If you lived in the area for a long time where the Queens Mall now stands use to be a amusement park. My parents use to take me there when I was a kid.

They just released a movie recently called  Man On A Ledge. If you look at the Queens section, you will see a job the other day regarding someone falling into a hole.  The chase scene with the State Police Cars was done in that cemetary.

I can go on and on.  I see alot of movies shot in Glendale & Middle Village on a regular basis.

Yes also the "World Gym" is shown often  & "Coopers" where they hang out is now "Yer Mans Irish Pub" on 88 St just South of Cooper Av..(it always amazed me that they changed the name when it changed hands since Coopers was & still is publicized on the show.....the amusement park was "Fairyland"....i used to shine shoes outside there & on the Woodhaven Blvd overpass above Queens Blvd on weekends...i still have tickets to " Fairyland".......do you know where the Church that they often show the outside of is ?...i enjoy seeing things filmed in NYC....it is odd that in a lot of shows both movie & tv that  they remove the street signs during filming.

319: Years ago, I was told that the exterior scene of houses at the start of "All in the Family (Archie Bunker)" was filmed along Booth Street about where you say the Wetherole Street scenes were filmed. Then someone else remarked that it was along Cooper Ave.  As JK says, Coopers was bought by Yer Mans which had been at Met east of Lefferts and lost their lease.  In the final years, Cooper Ale House had gone sleazy with awful food and service, so that may be why the name was 'retired'.

Here is one for you apparatus historians.  What is the command vehicle on the left of L20?

FDNY. Ladder 20

When it was the Medical Office, could have been a Dr car there.  Nowadays, who knows who puts up in that house besides 20 Truck?  (Marshals? Manhattan Boro?) 13 Engine did berth there for a few months before being disbanded in 1974, but that was a long time ago.
