Is this Symposium open to Fire Department personnel from outside NYC such as New Jersey ?

Myself and a friend on the job from Mass signed up, we didn’t see anything precluding us form the class and we obviously registered with our info being from Ma.

As noted in another thread, the fire marshals have recorded five fatalities from lithium-ion bikes or scooters so far this year. They have done 121 battery-related investigations in 2022 with 66 injuries. In 2021, there were 104 investigations, 79 injuries, and four deaths.
E-bikes have been legal in NYC since 2020. NYCHA have had about 10 fires on their property since 2019.
In 2021 Americans bought 880,000 motorized two wheelers versus 487,000 fully electric cars. Electric vehicles are 5% of all vehicles sold. E-bike sales have tripled between 2019 and 2021. They typically cost from below $1000 to $3000 and use $30 to $50 worth of electricity per year.
It would seem that all-cause injuries are only going to go up with the popularity of E-bikes. Riders, pedestrians, and the neighbors are all at risk. If they are going to store these indoors it seems like more charging safety features like thermal alarms or protective blankets are called for.
