A few of the members here have been discussing the FDNY days of the 2nd Sections, the TCUs (Tactical Control Units) and the Tin House.
It was a very busy time for the FDNY often referred to as "The War Years".

As a buff starting out in 1968 (See topic - "My Younger Buff Years" in the History Section), I got to see that for myself.
Looking back now, as a buff it sure was the right time to be around.

If any of you have some stories to tell or photos to share, let's start adding to this topic.

Thank you.

The Key thing to remember about the Tin House with 232 & 176 was that we were 4 blocks from 120 & 231 and west 4 blocks from 227 & 123. There was so much work around every once in a while Dispatcher would transmit any trucks available in Brownsville. As a charter member of 176 coming from 233-2 we learned quickly. We had a lot to prove being in the middle of 2 of the busier Trucks in Brownsville. And I would like to thank 120 for taking us under their wing and help us overcome any learning problems we encountered. Back then 120 was called Super Truck because of the amount of running, 8800 runs, and the work. The amount of Fire Duty we had hopefully will never be repeated. Both engines from 233 would interchange with Squad 4 when they did there 10,000 runs. The other thing to remember is that Brownsville never got the media coverage like the Bronx no fanfare for us just went about business and put the fires out.
