Field Comm Dispatchers

Dispatcher from Toronto Fire here. Just curious, how are the field comm units staffed? Are they actual fire alarm dispatchers who would normally be answering the phones? I'd love to know more about how this unit operates from when they are sent to major incidents, who staffs them, etc.

If I remember correctly, its one Officer, 1 FF and a Fire Alarm Dispatcher who staff it. They are quarted at E233 in Brooklyn. The FF drives and help the FAD as needed. The FAD will handle communications between the chiefs and the Borough Dispatcher. Unlike the Mobile Command Centers which are Special Called, the FC automatically goes on Second Alarms, and I believe on the transmission of a 10-76 or 77. Along with 10-60's, 10-66's among a few others.
