GABRESKI A.N.G. AIRPORT FD PATCH

No Polish jokes please!

Gabreski's finest moment occurred on August 17, 1943 in the skies over Belgium. On that day, the heavily shot up Schweinfurt portion of the Regensburg- Schweinfurt raid was desperately trying to get back to England, Eupen, Belgium was known by EVERBODY as the spot where Allied fighter escort began. The Luftwaffe had every fighter plane from Paris to the Baltics lined up there to cut them off. Then....unexpectedly ....out of the blue,,,15 miles east of Eupen, Gabreski's (who reportedly boxed in the army posing as a sergeant) 56th Fighter Group dropped the hammer!
The hunters became the hunted.
