Due to market changes, several high rise condominium buildings in Lower Manhattan have been halted in mid-construction and become "ghost condos".
One Seaport, a 57 story glass building sits unenclosed, covered with construction netting. It is reportedly 3 inches off vertical, endangering exterior glass curtain walls, windows, waterproofing and elevators in high winds. Most sales have been canceled, the DOB construction permit has expired, and a stop work order issued.
125 Greenwich Street is 912 feet tall and sits empty with an unfinished interior. 45 Broad Street, across the street from the NYSE was supposed to be 1115 feet tall. At least it's only a vacant lot five years after groundbreaking.
The CIDS for these joints must make for interesting reading.
