The Great Neck Alerts were on the scene of this building fire on Baker Hill Road possibly started as a result of a lightening strike. Text & video courtesy Nassau County Fire Service Academy.
The Great Neck Alert Fire Co. along with mutual aid companies operated on the scene of a working fire at the Village of Great Neck village hall on the night of Tuesday, August 9th. Manhasset Lakeville was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Heavy Rescue 8730. During the operation a second alarm was transported which brought additional resources to the scene and new units to standby for the Great Neck Alerts. Firefighters stretched three hand lines and utilized at least two hand lines. The cause of the fire [which began as a strong thunderstorm passed through the area] is currently under investigation. All fire dept. units were under the command of Great Neck Alerts Chief Purcell. Text courtesy K2M Photography.
