Halesite NY (Suffolk) Working Fire 8/5/22

On Friday, August 5th at approximately 3:40p, the Huntington Fire Department was dispatched to a reported commercial building fire on New York Ave. With a large column of smoke from a distance, a Signal 13/35 was transmitted by first responding chiefs . Upon arrival, heavy fire was found throughout 2 auto repair shops with first arriving units immediately beginning a defensive operation. Crews on scene utilized multiple hand lines as well as master streams from Tower Ladders to contain and extinguish the fire. Under the direction of Chief of Department Dodge [2-3-30], firefighters from multiple departments including Halesite, Huntington Manor, Greenlawn, Northport, Cold Spring Harbor, Centerport, Melville and Syosset operated for over 3 hours in over 90° degree temperatures to bring the fire under control.
