With all the battery fires keeping hazmat 1 busy is there any talk of adding a second full time hazmat company?

Not busy enough, the SSLs could prob do the job too since they have the drums. Everything rescue on the SSLs are not being replaced only the hazmat stuff.

That’s the Hazmat Response, same reason why do they send Rescue on Pin jobs if All Ladders have Jaws? It’s the protocol. At a 10-75 they find a Ion Battery the squad is not gonna have the 2nd piece so a Hazmat assignment is generated same with anything else. Most of the time the Hazmat Tech companies handle them but sometimes hazmat gets in there around the same time.
 
Numbers game....straight up.....90-95% of incidents are mitigated by the HMTU Engine or Squad Company. It was brought up numerous times over the years to allow HMTU's to operate independently and HM Ops always said no.....
