Is there a common dispatch center and radio network for the Nassau county vollies? If not how does it work?

Nassau County, NY fire departments are primarily dispatched by the Nassau County Fire Communications Center (FireCom) in Mineola, which handles alerts for the vast majority of the county's 71 volunteer fire departments. 911 calls are routed to FireCom, which uses Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and voice pagers on low-band frequencies (primarily 46.10 MHz) to alert volunteers.Key Aspects of Nassau County Dispatch:Dispatch System: FireCom (often referred to as 80 Control) acts as the central hub for dispatching fire and ambulance calls.Notification Methods: Volunteers are notified of emergencies via personal voice pagers that transmit the dispatcher's voice.Apparatus Dispatch: Upon receiving the alert, volunteer firefighters respond to their local firehouses and man the apparatus.Frequencies: While 46.10 MHz is a primary, some departments are moving to County UHF Dispatch on 453.875, using 460.3500 (Tac-1) as a fireground frequency.Direct Reporting: Some districts, such as Port Washington, have specific, non-911 numbers (e.g., 516-742-3300) to directly contact FireCom, potentially reducing delay.Volunteers may respond in their personal vehicles, often identified by a flashing blue light.
