This apartment is about 400-600 feet up Braesridge Drive from Engine 82's quarters. Obviously they had heavy fire on arrival.
It's funny; when you go up Braesridge to the north, it is a nice quiet neighborhood. When going south about 1000 feet to West Bellfort Avenue. it immediately becomes the "wild west". The last time I rode with the B Shift at Engine 82 years ago, they told me they were getting dumpster fires in the apartments at Fondren Rd. and West Airport at night. While operating, one of the locals was tagging them with a laser.
82 is probably thankful this fire wasn't in the assisted living apartments directly behind the firehouse. Things would have been a lot worse.
