I'm surprised that a rescue that large does not have tandem axles. Most of the large heavy rescues you see these days have them because of the weight of the equipment they carry.

Actually the equipment carried by a dedicated haz mat unit is significantly less than the equipment carried by a true heavy rescue company so they might be able to get away with the single axle weight wise and gain some extra space although I always like the tandem axle for the additional and improved braking
