Crews from the Indianapolis Fire Department battled a large fire at a former tire shop on the city's east side Sunday. The fire was primarily fought defensively. Reports from nearby residents stated that there might be squatters in the building so firefighters did a quick search inside. While the firefighters were inside a wall collapsed on the opposite end of the building from where they entered. All firefighters who went inside were able to quickly and safely evacuate the structure on their own and were not injured. No injuries were reported to fire fighters or civilians. Residents of one nearby multi-family home were forced to temporarily relocate due to their electricity being cut off as a result of the fire.
