Recently in Kentucky, a firefighter crossed jurisdictional boundaries to save the life of a child who was choking. Hours later the chief of the department where that firefighter works received an e-mail from the chief of the jurisdiction he responded to saying to "stay out of his jurisdiction".

I commented on this in another forum. On its face we need to get beyond this territory, "my yard , not your yard" mentality and focus on the mission of serving the public. Does it really matter the color of the apparatus or the name on the door?

Something smells about this. This is not a professional decision. More like a personal one. Maybe a union issue?
