Mutual aid from San Antonio FD or Austin FD 60 to 90 minutes away

The early morning hours of July 4, 2025

While Austin and San Antonio are the nearest big cities, mutual aid is available much closer . . . from Kimble County to the north, Gillespie County to the northeast (where you country music fans know that it proudly hosts the thriving metropolis of Luckenbach), Kendall County to the east, Bandera County to the south and a little further away, Real County to the southwest and Edwards County to the west. But it's still a hike from any of these counties. It might be interesting to note that there are a total of 4 communities in Kerr County (1107 square miles) with a population of more than 100 people (Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville and Center Point), while Mountain Home almost makes the list with a population of 93.
