Lexington, KY- Riot Condition 03-31-12

Friend who is with LFD just posted that there is too many fires to keep track of.

I was an officer at the urban-county detention center in intake/processing. Tonight is one night I wish I still worked there. I remember these rioting UK nights too well. Between the rioters, drunk students, DUI's, AI/DC's and good old Henry Earl coming in, then most of them bonding out or third party in addition to the time served list, it always made for one hell of a night and it was me who released them all :-)

You may be able to take the hoodlums of the hood but you can't take the hood out of the hoodlums!

The article states, "The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that police had to dodge beer bottles while putting out dozens of fires in the streets." Is that statement the result of the usual sub par reporting that we in the fire service are accustomed to, or did the fire department not respond and extinguish the fires?

Nope, just sub-par reporting on the Herald-Leader, better known locally as the Geraldo-Misleader.

Hope they are prepared for tonight, if Kentucky wins I hope the mayhem is kept to a minimum. A shame that a few losers mar a great accomplishment.

I'm expecting to wake up tomorrow and find downtown Lexington worst off than Detroit or Newark on a good day.
