"At 4:35 pm today, the Long Beach Fire Department received a report of a Kayak with 2 occupants in distress in Reynolds Channel in the vicinity of Indiana Ave.
Units on scene observed a kayak heading east, a Command Post was set up at Lindell Blvd. And the Bay.
The Kayak was located just east of Lindell Bkvd. unoccupied by the Atlantic Beach Rescue Jetski, it was brought to a neighboring dock and secured.
A brief search of the area for any occupants was negative, the caller was re-interviewed by the Long Beach Police Department and it was determined that the caller mistook the Kayak seats as people. It must.of broken loose from an area dock.
All operations were under the Command of Chief John Marino.
We were assisted by the Atlantic Beach Rescue, Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, Woodmere Vol. Fire Department, Island Park Volunteer Fire Department, Inwood Fire Department, Town of Hempstead Bay Constable, Long Beach Police Department and the Nassau County Police Department."
