A fire in a gym in Venice Beach that claimed the life of a dog was started by a lithium ion battery overheating.

KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0305; 07:41AM; 1 E 19th Av; https://bit.ly/3YHunwr; Venice; KNOCKDOWN: 32 firefighters extinguished the fire in 35 minutes with no injuries reported. The fire extended (to what degree is being evaluated at this time) to the two adjacent businesses. LAFD resources will be on scene through the morning conducting overhaul operations. Due to the narrow streets and limited access, residents are requested to avoid the area while LAFD apparatus are still on scene. Cause of the fire is attributed to lithium-ion battery overheating. The pet dog of the business owner was sadly found deceased in the structure after fire extinguishment.
