At 3:51 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, a 911 caller reported smoke coming from the roof of a building near E. Arapahoe Rd. and S. Clinton Ct. in Greenwood Village. Engine 31 and Tower 35 were first to arrive at Fuji Hibachi & Sushi Restaurant, located at 9632 E. Arapahoe Rd., and they observed a large volume of smoke pouring from the roof and rear of the building. Firefighters forced entry into the business, encountered fire conditions and began fire suppression. While crews were operating there, smoke was seen coming from the roof at The Sportsbook Bar & Grill, located 4 businesses to the east at 9660 E. Arapahoe Rd.
A 2nd Alarm was dispatched which brought additional apparatus and personnel to the scene, and Firefighters advanced a hose line inside to extinguish the fire. The fires were quickly controlled, searches of both smoke-filled restaurants were clear, and thankfully no injuries occurred. Greenwood Village Police Department and the South Metro Fire Marshal’s Office are working together on this case, after officers located evidence of burglary.
