What exactly is the Metropolitan Fire Association, what do they do and what function and capacity do they serve? I've heard they're everything from an explorer post with fire apparatus, to freelancers who fight brush fires. Are they recognized by the state of NY as a fire department or what?

Those where accusation that proved to be false and made up by a angered child that Fox took in. Its sad how the media will tell one side of the story and never the other.  Fox retired from Metropolitan a long time ago and wasn't active. On the accusation of freelancing. I can tell you that there was none of that. When ever the members worked with the FDNY they always worked under the supervision of the FDNY command structure and  always well assisting with many needs. It seems like someone is out with an agenda to defame a great organization. I would suggest you email the organization to find out what it really is about or PM me.

Thanks, I'm not trying to imply that I believe anything I've heard. I've been wanting to figure out where they fall in the grand scope of things; like volunteer FD status or if they ever work with Division 8 on the island and how their membership is made up. I was in charge of an explorer post at my firehouse in 2005 and 2006, so I find it interesting.

  Those accusations were never proved false.  Quite the contrary, pervert Fox took a plea deal and is serving 17 1/2 to 35 years in PA.  Textbook predator- involved with young boys thru sports, scouts and this organisation.  Used his shield as a cover.
