On the night Sunday, July 10th, 2022, the Mineola Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a building fire on Willis Avenue off First Street. Those first to arrive on scene were met with fire showing from the basement window of a one-story commercial building. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid requested. Firefighters put one hand line into operation off Mineola Engine 162 and had the fire quickly knocked down before it could extend further. The scene was placed under control within thirty minutes and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
