Most decorated FDNY Engines

Looking back to the good old days of the FDNY Macks, some companies spent a lot of time and took pride in decorating and making their rigs truly theres...

Tis trend followed on with some engines in the Bronx and Brooklyn personalising their Seagraves in the 90s...

Are there any engine companies out there that are decorated up and personalised...

The companies I can think off are Da Bronx E63 and Manhattans E23... Both MIIs.

E43 sure stands out.. The Metz and Yankees
engines are sure a good traditional and striking
testiment to NYCs sporting giants..

;D When I 1st read the title of this thread I thought it was talking about how many commendations members of the engine company had received over time not how pretty the truck looks!  After all that's the true meaning of fire protection and it seems like many fire departments have forgotten that when they buy equipment!
 
Don't know if they still do it, but in the 1980s the Baltimore City FD had small decals with Maltese Cross that designated a commendations (aka Unit Citations) the company received. These were arranged on the cab of the rig. Some companies had a number of them.
 
Back in the late '60s early '70s LAD*143 had a '63 Seagrave w/a plywood canopy over the front....on the Officers side of the plywood covering  they painted very small Pike Axes w/the company number of LADs they relocated to on the handle of each one....by the time they got another Rig the side was almost filled up.
 
Baltimore City still does it.  You get a decal for each unit citation that is placed on the officer's side door.  There is a limit to how many can be placed on the apparatus.  I cant remember off the top of my head what it is, I can check when I get back to work.  Once a unit reaches that limit the captain can ask for a small metal plaque that has a removable section with the number of unit citations.  Unfortunately, as is normal for this dept, we have been asking for one for years to no avail...  wouldnt want to improve morale i guess
 
Some nice looking rigs.

I hope the fdny companies emblazen their new rigs with their own individual flare for the next ten or so years...

And yes maybe this topic should have been about decorations and medals.....
