My great grandfather Captain John R Gill

Hello and thanks for adding me to the site. I have started doing some research into my family tree and was happy to find that he is listed here on this site. I have attached some pictures of the medal he was awarded in 1921 I was not aware of the circumstances of him receiving it. But of course very proud of the heroic circumstances. I have never seen a picture of him and was wondering if there is a possibility of somehow finding one in some kind of service related place. If there is anyone that can help me out it would be much appreciated.

Years ago, FDNY Rescue 1 had a Buff named John Gill. John was an F.B.I. Agent and an award-winning fire photographer. He was a great man, and I had many happy times talking with John Gill. Below is one of His Photos of the Massive 1FDNY 10th Alarm Box 7981-23-85 Bldg. Piano Factory 90 X 125.jpg 10th Alarm fire on W- 43 St. that destroyed the quarters of Rescue 1, that had been the quarters of FDNY Engine Co. 2. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.
