A few apparatus orders that piqued my attention recently from the Garden State are those of Englewood and Newark, NJ.

Englewood has on order a 100' TDA from Seagrave, replacing a 1995 E-One Hurricane Hush. I believe this will be their first tiller since the 60's. Additionally, they have ordered an engine also.

Next, Newark has 13 apparatus on order from E-One. The most recent add on to the order includes five engines, a ladder, a tower and a rescue.

Lebby You are correct give these Departments reliable equipment. Patterson Also updated a bunch of Frontline Rigs and Jersey City recently. Now if Only Trenton fell in line also. I know its budgets but if you have to cut back a little somewhere else you have to make sacrifices.

I used to live in Teaneck, right next to Englewood, and don't remember the streets being that narrow. I wonder what persuaded them to purchase a TDA ?

Some more changes coming to Northern New Jersey,

Elizabeth Fire Department has ordered eight new pieces of apparatus from Fire and Safety Services (Pierce). Including Rescue 1, Rescue 2 (replacing their former UASI Collapse Rescue), TAC (similar to FDNY's TSUs), and the Tactical Support Unit (a high water rescue vehicle). Also two new engines (the receiving companies haven't been announced, but will almost certainly be Engine 6, a 2012 and Engine 3 or 5, both 2014s), Ladder 1 (a 100' rear mount) and finally a Special Operations Truck (specializing in trench rescues).

In Jersey City, Engine 1 has become a fully staffed company responding with Engine 5, Ladder 2 and Battalion 1 as the second engine responding from 355 Newark Avenue covering The Village neighborhood. When Engine 1 was reestablished last year, it was on a part time basis being staffed as possible with members on over time. Additionally, Squad 1 has entered service as a fully staffed company at Fire Headquarters which covers Newport. Squad 1 is using the NJ EMS Task Force's former Mass Casualty Response Unit 2 which differs from JCFD's Squad 4 which is currently a rescue engine as it is a walk around rescue. Squad 1's focus will be high rise operations and rapid intervention (FAST). To that end it is equipped with battery operated extrication tools (the first in the city), fans and thermal imagers.
