[Extra One & One]

Here is an oddball question. I see that the majority of new firefighters were assigned to begin on March 9th. Some were assigned to report on March 14th due to extra training in Chemical Protective Company (CPC) which is a ladder company function, or Decon Task Force (DTF) which is an engine company function. The CPC training is 8 hours but the DTF is 24 hours. I wonder what they do with the CPC guys for those additional 16 hours?

Also note that the CPC & DTF companies are the only units that require additional training in the Probie class. A probie could be assigned to a Satellite engine or a SOC Support ladder and report for duty… I’m guessing for OJT.

Any insight?

There is a difference between initial training for these qualifications and the mandated yearly training, with initial being longer of course. SSL probies will attend the two week SSL class at the next opportunity, but otherwise go to the field.
