Seagrave is currently building the  new 1000 GPM rescue pumpers.  This order is expected to replace all seven front line Squad unts.

Delivery is expected to begin in the summer of 2013

The seven 1000 gpm rescue-pumpers which will be going to Squad Companies 1, 18, 41, 61, 252, 270 and 288.

I saw that but I was confused with the fact the previous 99 Seagrave plus the HPs and the KMEs are 2000gpm why the squads would be 1000 thought it might be a typo

Could be that Squads need extra compartments and there is no room for the extra hard sleeves carried on a 2000gpm pumper.

Maybe the SQ Rigs would not normally be used a High Pressure Pumper as most would not be in a position to be hooked up as a 1st ..2nd..or 3rd due pumper at a Hi-Rise Op....the additional hard suctions in place on the side are for drafting water another operation a SQ would not generally perform....JMO.

It would still seem like they would build them with 2000 GPM pumps, if for no other reason than standardization of parts and maintenance training.  Even if they didn't have the additional hard suction sections they could be used for in-line pumping, which in most cases would be where they were located at the scene anyway.  The cost difference between 1000 GPM and 2000 GPM is minimal compared to the overall price of the trucks.

As per Seagrave Facebook Page UPDATED 2hrs ago....

" Seagrave received the following recent orders:
Four (4) 75' Aerialscopes & Seven (7) High Pressure Pumpers from Fire Department of New York, NY, One (1) Pumper from Waltham Fire Department, Waltham, MA, One (1) Non-Quint Aerial, Force from Wakefield, MA & One (1) Aerial Force, Quint from the City of Orange Fire Department, Orange, CA ".

This must be the Squads?? If engines are going to KME

These are NOT the squads (although Seagrave has the contract for the squads, too) . . .  they're the HIGH PRESSURE engines.

According to the Seagrave web site, all 7 have been delivered.  Here's a pic from that site:

That's the 7 high pressure pumpers not the squads, the squads are a seperate order I believe. On top of the 7 hp engines they added on 8 engines with regular 2000 gallon pumps to replace the engines lost in sandy.

Of course, you're right . . . another DOH! moment for me (they're getting more frequent all the time).

Don't worry Ray, we all know it happens to our good friend, "johnny D" all the time.

Nice truck. Are the haz-mat tech engines getting the same as i heard that they will be getting them also or are they just going to the squads?

I had heard the same and was wondering my self as well as what pump would be put on those engines 2000 or 1000 like the squads

They are 1000 gpm pumps as far as I know. I heard that the haz-mat tech Engines were going to get rescue bodies because of the extra space for all their haz-mat equipment.
