Mack only really exists in name only now. Quality also ain't the same
 
I am saddened to hear that Mack has slipped in quality. I guess that the slip in quality is especially true with all other brands of fire apparatus. I am also a 50+ year Volunteer firefighter, and the Pierce apparatuses we have have many problems, especially with the Departments 95 ft. Tower Ladder, that is not used really that much for T.L. fire operations. Hopefully the litigation against the price fixing of fire apparatuses, current in the courts will also have some effect on the quality of these expensive rigs. Funny you mention a Pierce 95 tl with issues. Buddy of mine works for Osceola County Fire and they were replacing their only platform. Came down to Pierce and Sutphen SPH100. For what ever reason they went with Pierce. They had to send the truck back with over 120 someodd issues. Pretty sure they regret it now.
