Newark ship fire NTSB results

Stevedores using slipshod practices with zero oversight or input from their bosses? Color me shocked. Nothing will change down there of course, the ILA is the ILA and they don't care if they get people hurt or killed, they just want their cut. It was like that back in the early 2000s when I was an agent, it was like that all last century and itll continue onward until automation finally croaks em.

If what the attorney is saying is true and NFD hasn't done any sort of shipboard or confined space training for their members since this tragedy they deserve to have the book thrown at them.

I will say it again the New York Port Authority should be responsible for either having their own trained Shipboard Firefighters or to Provide Training to Newark, FDNY and all the other fire department that do or may respond to ship & port fires. The FDNY firefighters in the Marine Units/Fireboats, had some training in shipboard and port firefighting. I do not know if that is still true. A few of us FDNY firefighter and fire officers were former Navy members, many of which had shipboard firefighter training. I was trained in both shipboard and aircraft firefighter skills when I was stationed at Naval Station Mayport and N.A.S Jacksonville Fla. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.
