It is with great sadness that we share the loss of one of our most talented and professional members of the Newport News Fire Department Family. Captain Ken Carter passed away after a battle with cancer. He provided many years of service to the citizens of Newport News. He will be greatly missed. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Ken's funeral was held today. So that as many NNFD personnel as possible could attend, units from Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Smithfield, Suffolk, Hampton, York County, James City County, Williamsburg and more stood by at all 11 NNFD stations, in a demonstration of the brotherhood of fire fighters.
