Incident Location: 2227 Jerusalem Avenue

The North Bellmore Fire Department was alerted for smoke from a building on Jerusalem Avenue just before 08:00 on April 15, 2024. Chief of Department Bazarewski was the first to arrive and reported she had a smoke condition and audible alarms coming from the New Bridge Inn. Upon further investigation, a working fire was transmitted, and requests for mutual aid started. Engine 655 was first due and had a hydrant on the way in. Ladder 658 set up in front of the building, and its crew began forcing entry into the building. The crew from 655 put the initial line into operation in the basement where the fire was located. The crew from Bellmore Engine 601 stretched a second line to the first floor, where there was some extension to the bar area. The fire was knocked down and brought under control within an hour and contained to the one business. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by the Bellmore and North Merrick Fire Departments for Engines, the Merrick Fire Department for a Ladder, and the Uniondale Fire Department for a FAST Truck. There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. (Text Credit: Zone2Photo)
