I visited that firehouse in August with a firefighter from Tokyo Japan. I contacted a friend who works there and he offered to give us a tour of the place. He is a captain assigned to the ladder truck there and showed us around. This captain played a key role in the design of the training area built right within the firehouse. It is basically a small version of the FDNY Fire Academy "the Rock".
In the rear of the apparatus floor is a two level training area. Hands on training can include ground ladders, second floor repelling, there is a forcible entry door, and a stairway that includes a standpipe hook up.
On the second floor level is an entire apartment set up with movable walls for simulated search. Like the FDNY there is an audio of the sounds involved in performing a search. All the walls are painted black and I've been told they can create zero visibility even in daylight hours. All the furniture used was purchased through a used furniture store sales or on Ebay, which includes a set of bunk beds. There is separate area to simulate a bathroom and also a section for confined space training.
Overall a pretty impressive place.
