Mohegan Sun and Naval Submarine Base departments responded to this multiple alarm. Interesting that Norwich career and volunteer departments, neighboring town volunteer departments, a paid tribal fire department and a federal military fire department operated together at this 3rd alarm.

As mentioned in one of the articles above, this vacant building had another major fire back in April, 2010, in which Six people were arrested and convicted for setting that fire.

There has also been a history of fires set in that building over the last couple of years.
It should have been torn down years ago

An interesting point however.
The Battalion Chief that was working and caught this most recent multiple alarm fire, was also working at the nearby Engine 2's quarters as a Lt back in April, 2010 and caught it first due back then.
The firehouse (Engine 2) is only about a block away.

I guess it depends on what part of the country you are in, and many areas where I've been at various times that's pretty normal. Some places even have 1st alarm responses from a mixture of units like that. It all depends on the area and the available resources.
