Auxillary still uses the old nightsticks I believe (even though its optional for them to be carried) but the rest of the Department has been changed to actual Expandable Batons.

Correction, Wooden Straight Nightsticks are used while patrolling in a RMP or on foot, Expandable Batons are used while on Bike Patrol (which is only in Central Park). There allowed to under NYS Penal Code 265.20B

I've had occasion to speak with some old NYPD salts in my life. I got the impression that the night stick was the go-to tool, the dispenser of justice or something to that effect. In the last two videos I didn't see it used, especially by assisting officers.

I'll speculate that back when, if two guys were wailing on a brother in blue, the first cop that came on the scene would be giving what I believe they used to call a "wood shampoo".

These skells have taken over every city in the country.

Seeing that NYPD Lt in the video with his beaten up face requiring stitches and an eye injury which will result in him requiring a specialist is one example.
His story alone shows the risk these police officers deal with and no help from our court system.

With assaults on police officers in NYC up from last year (21%) and even HIGHER (40%) over the year before, the time has come that the Good People Take a Stand and Fight For THEIR RIGHTS and the RIGHTS of THESE Police Officers Who Are Suffering At the Hands of these Street Thug Criminals.
