Just Heard Obama in due at Ground Zero today and is due to visit an FDNY House in Midtown to meet FF's.

Yes, he's going to E54/L4/BC9 house, the 1st Pct. stationhouse  and Ground Zero. No speech, just going to lay a wreath and have closed door private meetings with victims' family members.

It was all over the morning newscasts and they even made a "Press Pit" across the street from the firehouse for reporters.

There was a 9/11 memorial ladder truck on Rt 80 east this morning.
The truck was being escorted by four blacked out suburbans
in fact they had the truck surrounded and were maintaining
a clear middle lane. The trucks plates read 'The Men', escort
vehicles had NY plates also.

Hey does anybody know why all of SI were on the overpasses looking over the West Shore and SI Expressway today? I would assume that there was some special convoy coming in as many of them had placed american flags on the overpasses.

That would be a convenient stop since E4/TL15 are within eyeball distance from the Wall St. Helliport where the President's choppers land and take-off. BTW, E4 is usually one of two engines with foam lines at the ready when USMC Marine #1 lands at Wall St. Helliport.

I noticed that when the President was at Engine 54/Ladder4/Batt 9 there was writing on the white stripe of E-54. Part of it said nyc.gov.fdny. Any explanation? Curious, is the city protecting its FDNY domain?

That is the NY City website that the Job posted on all the rigs years ago....it is to allow the public access to info.....Companies have been warned not to remove or alter the logo.

Not lately. It's been the same companies, or close to the same companies for the last few. You may see someone from a little further north come up. What I do find funny, is that there's been talk of shutting down Engine 4, and yet we have to put a relocator in there when the President comes to town.
