Thanks for sharing. These structures are difficult to battle. Strategy is simple, but tactics are often very challenging. Looks like they did a good job.

I was up there for my part time job. https://www.mass.gov/service-detail...e response, call, use of Special Ops resources.

They had a total of 5 buildings damaged. The original fire building was fully involved. A blacksmith shop down the street was fully involved and there was minor damage to the other properties.

The Orange fire chief was telling me there was basketball sized embers flying around the neighborhood which is how the blacksmith shop caught on fire. The embers also touched off a few brush fires. Embers were also found the next town over.

It was the equivalent of 6 to 7 alarms. The statewide fire mobilization plan was activated bringing in 2 structural task forces. I believe each task force is up to 6 engines and 2 ladders. Some worked the fire while others covered the town.

Orange is a typical New England mill town. The winds that day didn't help them much but they did a phenomenal job keeping the fire from spreading.

The main fire building had been vacant for some time and was scheduled to be knocked down in the near future.

Also to note 3 juveniles have been arrested in connection with this fire.
