Just re-read Report Engine Co 82. Further research says the Engine mentioned might be a Ward LaFrance. Discovered that 1960 FDNY purchased 16 (The largest delivery) FireBrand pumpers. She was retired in 1968 when she was replaced with a CF Mack. Her Reg#5928. They were the first "cab forward" engines. Does anyone have a photos of this piece of apparatus they can share with me? Thanks in advance.

A.W

It's not E-82, but it is an FDNY Firebrand:

Engine 1 had a cab forward American LaFrance rig in the mid forties followed by a group of them a year or so later.

"Firebrand" has a 6 cyl. International Harvester engine and a 5 speed stick shift. I think the booster tank was 250 gals.

The first cab forward engines were the twenty 1947 American LaFrance 700 series 750gpm pumpers of which Engine 1's was one of them. They were originally assigned to Engines: 1, 7, 9, 12, 32, 58, 72, 96, 97, 160, 162, 201, 202, 203, 220, 236, 237, 267, 278 & 313.

Engine 82's 1960 WLF #5928 was actually reassigned to E249 where it served for another 2 years until E249 received a 1970 Mack CF.

Thanks to ALL! Two great photo of E-82 and lots of additional details on the WLF's. I appreciate the assist and contributions! A.W
