According to today's Chicago Sun'Times the city Inspector General plans to reduce the size of the department by 595 members. The plan is to reduce apparatus staffing to 4 members per rig saving 65 millions bucks. Be advised the IG has no power to cut the budget but he feels his role by law is to promote effective city government and the city's current level of spending-matched to the city's revenue- is unsustainable
