Putting up boards after a fire

who does that is it the fd or just some random contractors who put up those boards on windows after a fire?????

There's plenty of private contractors that do it. Some places the housing authorities do it. In the back of Firehouse Mag in the classifieds look there to see some of the contractors that do it. One that comes to mind is

Can't answer for residential occupancies, but if a business has "plate glass insurance" the carrier almost always provides an "800" number to call in order to get the premises boarded up.  The cost of the board-up is covered by the policy.

ok thanx for some reason everytime i hear specially call a truck for salvage thats what i thought they were beign special called for!! what is the real reason for the boards to go up i reason i can think of is security but why on none fire escape windows

NYPD ESU are often called in to secure a building/doors.

NYPD ESU are often called in to secure a building/doors.

It's regular beat cops/rmp's that secure buildings, not ESU.
