Its getting close to the time that fdnewyork.com puts the annual run stats up..

E. 290  & L.43    Top Eng & Top Truck
Since 2011, Engine 290 and Ladder 43 have been the top Engine and Truck for total runs. Engine 290 has also been in either first or second place for total number of workers for Engines since 2006.

Since 1979, E 290 has been in the top 4 engines for runs in the NYC 28 times.  If you went back further, they would also be at the top of the R & W list for engines.

If you look at 290s response district, its huge!!! I have the exact number of the boxes in their response districts,  i will post the numbers of their first second and third response areas when i have counted them, but geographically their area is big in comparison to most FDNY engines.

One of their neighbouring houses, 332/175 has both companies in the top 5 for all hands and above.

I think it's safe to say that East New York companies see A LOT of fire duty. Also, Engine 290/Ladder 103 has been a consistently busy house all around.

Yes it seems where areas of the Da Bronx and Harlem, and perhaps even BedStuy have previously seen areas of high fire activity, but are now much quieter it seems East New York has remained active and consistent over many decades, I wonder how long it will stay that way.. Is it NYCs version of LAs South  Central districts, where LAFD and LAcoFD companies do 5,000-6,000 runs a year and have also done so for decades.

And looking at FDnewyorks top ten runs and workers, since the 70s 290 has indeed been in the top ten, and on many many occasions number one for runs. Another frequent flyer at the top and still busy is E75.

Is 290/103 a popular house for members to serve at?? Is their a waiting list on the transfer list, same for 75/33.

2013 is online except for the top 10 list. I'll get to that tomorrow, Tuesday night. I'm seeing numerals before my eyes.

Wow, I truly cant believe how busy 54 Engine is with 4,700 runs... so close to 5K! They truly never miss a performance, 4 truck incredibly busy as well. Other companies were usually busy and did not surprise me.

I also find it interesting that truck companies: 76, 82, 106 did not break 1,000 runs. I can expect the low # for 76 truck in Tottenville, SI because of the area... It is mostly woods and new construction homes, its not a very busy area... but 82 truck which serves Great Kills I expected to be busier, they had 925. 53 truck we all know can't leave City Island and thats the reason for their #. Engine 151 which is housed with 76 had 901, which is I believe an increase from previous years. 162 Engine stayed the same between the two years with about 1,600 runs, they are housed with 82.

Interesting: 77 and 86 trucks (both TL's) are almost neck and neck for being named the busiest truck on SI with 77 having gone on 10 more runs than 86 with 1,692.

Note: I am not in any way trying to bag on a company for being slow or whatnot - each area of the city and company see their fair share of work  8) Just find the #s interesting is all its great to have this info available... thanks Frank.

Wasn't Ladder 82 located at New Dorp last year.  They had to lose runs to Ladder 87 and Ladder 84.

Ahh yes Mack they were I completely forgot... they sure did lose ALOT of boxes. Makes sense now I always thought that co. was 1,000+ for the most part. 162 was relocated to 167. Thanks for the reminder. They were relocated for a good amount of time too, a few months.
