New bid just went out for 100' rearmounts aerials.
Looks pretty much the same as the current.

This will be an interesting bid to watch.  It's the 1st rebid of any of the major piece of apparatus that Seagrave didn't get in the last round of bidding.  I'll be watching to see if they get more aggressive with their bidding and whether Ferrara raises their bid significantly to cover all of the warranty work they've had to perform!  I'm betting it will be a real shootout on the prices.

So we should be hearing some news today. On who bids on the trucks and hopefully who wins.

Looks like 1mil a rig. for a total bid of 16 mil.  I guess around 16 rigs?  Wasn't that a number that popped up before the 21 mentioned earlier in this thread?

Interesting that Ferrara got this bid.  You've they aren't getting killed as bad as it looks like with the warranty work or their manufacturing costs are significantly lower than anybody else!  Of course the 2 facts could be interrelated, you building cheaper you have to spend a lot more repairing them.

True, but hopefully they're working the numbers accurately and won't have financial issues down the road as a result.  I must say that my experience with Ferrara ladders has been poor, but this is based on working in a rig from the first order of 20.  Hopefully quality has improved and having built 50+ rigs, the kinks are ironed out.  We'll have to see what 4 Truck thinks after spending some time in the newest apparatus assigned to his company.

I have one from the 2nd batch. We have not had nearly as many issues as the first batch.  We have had some issues here and there. They still come by every once and awhile to make some adjustments. Overall they are nice to ride in. You appreciate it more after you have a spare rearmount for a little while. I still say the stearing on the seagraves where so much better.

Has this been awarded yet. I know sometimes they might pass over a lower bid or exclude a bid because of to many substitutions and what not or choose a higher bidder because the old "it's in the best Intrest of the city / department"

The bids are back

Ferrara 1038500 a unit
Seagrave 1099302
KME 1338997

Awards take some times and they can and have went back to the bidding process in the past.

Will the newer rearmounts have the latest style lights, (cab roof) ?
Probably something similar but in reality why does it matter?  They obviously will have a very visible light system to ensure their safety and that traffic is out of the way.

I was just curious.  Apparently it mattered to someone for them to be changed on all new pumpers, towers, and tillers and they just happen to match ...
