On 9-3-25...REST IN PEACE BROTHER....PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES.
With regret, the Department announces the death of retired Firefighter Gerald W. Rooney, E-60, appointed
December 17, 1977, retired January 31, 2003, which occurred on September 3, 2025. This member bravely
served this Department protecting life and property in the City of New York in the rescue and recovery at
Manhattan Box 5-5-8087 World Trade Center.
The heartfelt sympathy of the entire Department is extended to the family, relatives, and friends of the deceased
in the midst of the great loss that they and the Department have sustained.
Funeral Services were held in September of 2025. May his soul rest in eternal peace
