With regret, the Department announces the death of retired Firefighter Israel Hernandez, Engine 74, appointed
September 5, 1981, retired August 27, 2003, which occurred on June 10, 2026. This member bravely served this
Department protecting life and property in the City of New York in the rescue and recovery at Manhattan
Box 5-5-8087 World Trade Center.
The heartfelt sympathy of the entire Department is extended to the family, relatives, and friends of the
deceased in the midst of the great loss that they and the Department have sustained
Funeral Service will take place from Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Staten Island, NY, on
Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 1000 hours. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend. Members
are requested to attend in dress uniform

Tuesday, June 16, 2026:
1400 to 1600 hours
and
1900 to 2100 hours
